Institute Description:
The Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) is a research centre of excellence within NUIC’s Environmental Research Institute. Established in 1994, the Centre has built an international reputation in coastal and marine resource management by successfully completing national and internationally funded peer reviewed research projects, in the following thematic areas: 1) Seabed Mapping and Physical Coastal Processes Studies, 2) Knowledge and Information Management, 3) Marine Mammal and Seabird Studies and 4) Integrated Coastal Zone Management.
The key objective of the CMRC is to enhance the understanding of coastal and ocean resources and their interactions with populations in order to encourage the adoption of scientifically based integrated coastal and ocean management plans. Other objectives are to:
